The Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon, came to an end with the completion of its seven seasons in May 2024. It was a prequel series about the younger years of Sheldon Cooper and his family. The characters developed a lot through the years, and so did., of course, the actors playing them. This is the age of the main cast at the end of the series and how it compares to the ages playing those characters in that finale.
Sheldon Cooper: Iain Armitage
When the series debuted in 2017, Iain Armitage was nine years old and began his portrayal of young genius Sheldon Cooper. Armitage was 15 years old by the time the series ended for good in May 2024. At the end of the series, Sheldon is 14 years old, which makes Armitage slightly older than his onscreen character.
Missy Cooper: Raegan Revord
Sheldon’s twin sister, Missy, was played by Raegan Revord, who was also nine when the show launched. By the time of the finale, Revord had reached 16-years-old, and her character Missy was shown as also being a 14-year-old like Sheldon.
Georgie Cooper: Montana Jordan
At just 14 years old, Montana Jordan will have to play Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie Cooper. Jordan had 21 years by the end of the series. Jordan is two years older than Georgie, who was 19 in the series finale timeline.
Mary Cooper: Zoe Perry
When Zoe Perry began the role of devout and nurturing mother Mary Cooper, she was 33 years old. Perry was 40 by the time the series ended. The finale had Mary Cooper portrayed as 44 years old, which makes Perry four years younger than her character.
George Cooper Sr.: Lance Barber
The part of George Cooper Sr., head of the Cooper family, was played by Lance Barber. At the beginning of the series, Barber was 44 and, by its end, 51. The actual Barber was basically the same age as his character’s death season story-wise; when George Sr. died in the last season, he was 50 years old.
Connie ‘Meemaw’ Tucker: Annie Potts
Meemaw, the feisty grandmother, was portrayed by Annie Potts. When the series actually started, both Potts and her character were 66. Potts’ character is 71-years-old during the series, and Potts was 71-years-old by the finale.
Mandy McAllister: Emily Osment
The fifth season added Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister. At the time, Osment was 29 years old. She was 32 by the end of the series finale. And in the show’s finale, her character Mandy was 32, exactly how old Osment was.
Pastor Jeff: Matt Hobby
Matt Hobby played Pastor Jeff, the local church leader. Hobby had been 34 years old when he assumed the part, and by the conclusion of the series, he was 39. Pastor Jeff was 68 in the series finale, meaning Hobby and his character were about 18 years apart in age.
We all got to grow up over the years with those characters and the young actors who played them, thanks to “Young Sheldon.” The series introduced another angle into the arc of Sheldon Cooper during his formative years and enhanced the “Big Bang Theory” universe.
