The 2006 classic “The Holiday” won audiences with its romance and star-studded cast. Here’s an update on The Holiday Cast and what they have been up to lately.
Cameron Diaz (Amanda Woods)
Cameron Diaz played Amanda Woods, a successful Los Angeles movie trailer producer. After “The Holiday,” she appeared in such films as “Bad Teacher” (2011) and “The Other Woman” (2014). Diaz announced her retirement from acting in 2014 to concentrate on family and business pursuits. She founded an organic wine label, Avaline, and wrote wellness books. Diaz confirmed her return to acting in June 2022 with ‘Back in Action,’ a Netflix film with former co-star Jamie Foxx, scheduled for release in 2024.
Kate Winslet (Iris Simpkins)
Kate Winslet played Iris Simpkins, a wedding columnist from England. Jude Law (Graham Simpkins)
Jude Law played Graham Simpkins, Iris’s dapper brother. Since then, Law has played Dr. Watson in the “Sherlock Holmes” series and a young Albus Dumbledore in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise. In December 2024, Law rejoined The Holiday director Nancy Meyers, leading to rumors of a sequel. In this reunion, Law jokingly revived that character’s “Mr. Napkin Head” persona. He continues to work in film and television, with one of his latest projects being the Disney+ series “Skeleton Crew.”
Jack Black (Miles Dumont)
Jack Black starred as Miles Dumont, a film composer who became Iris’s love interest. Following “The Holiday,” Black had success with movies such as “Kung Fu Panda” (2008) and its sequels and “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017). He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. He also surveys the landscape of his career as a serious actor working alongside a comedian in Tenacious D. Eli Wallach (Arthur Abbott)
Eli Wallach played Arthur Abbott, a retired screenwriter who befriends Iris. Edward Burns (Ethan)
Burns, who played Amanda Woods’ fed-up boyfriend (Ethan), starred in 27 Dresses, Entourage, Friends With Kids, Alex Cross, and Public Morals. He also produced, wrote, and directed many of his projects, including the Epix series Bridge and Tunnel and the film Summer Days, Summer Nights.
The actor married Christy Turlington in June 2003. They have a daughter, Grace, and a son, Finn.
Shannyn Sossamon (Maggie)
Shannyn plays Miles’s aspiring actress girlfriend, Maggie, whom he ditches for Kate Winslet’s character, Iris. The actress also appeared in episodes of the TV series “Mistresses,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and “Wayward Pines.” Her movie credits include “Wristcutters: A Love Story,” “Our Family Wedding,” “The Undertaker’s Wife” and “Sinister 2.”
She is the mom of son Audio, 20, with ex-Dallas Clayton, and son Mortimer, 12, with ex-Richard Purser.
Rufus Sewell (Jasper)
Sewell’s credits included “The Man in the High Castle,” “Victoria,” “Eleventh Hour,” “The Tourist,” “Judy,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and “The Pale Horse.” In 2023, he started appearing in the Netflix political thriller The Diplomat.
The actor shares son William with ex-wife Amy Gardner and daughter Lola with Ami Komai. He became engaged to Vivian Benitez in December 2023. The couple married in July 2024.
Miffy Englefield (Sophie)
Miffy, now 24, played Jude Law’s daughter, Sophie. She is also a mother and a barista. She had her first child, Frankie, in 2020.
Earring, the former actress, was also in a band, calling herself a “pint-sized punk.”
